The Hezekiah House is a project within The Community Outreach organization. The program is to provide temporary housing for low income families. The project includes eight (8) twinhomes with a central community center, playground and community garden. Twinhomes include basic home amenities complete with garage, kitchen, bathroom and dining room on the ground floor and three bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. The aesthetic was designed to meld the contemporary designs of Augustana University and Our Saviors Church to the north with the more traditional homes to the south.
The Community Center will serve as gathering space for teaching and social gathering. The second floor is a loft apartment for the Hezekiah House coordinator. The community center also houses the laundry for the development.
Hezekiah House’s mission is to serve the community in three main areas: 1) Infomation and referral to other social service agencies. 2) Financial assistant for rent, utilities, and work-related transportation, and 3) Financial education and mentoring.
