Project Details

The Sioux Falls Headquarters relocated to the historic East Side Fire Station, originally built in 1916 by Joseph Schwartz to serve the eastern downtown area. Designed to accommodate a fire force of 49 men, the station housed two firetrucks and a light truck, standing as a testament to early firefighting efforts in the city. A few years after its construction, a library was added, further cementing its role as a community hub. After years of being used for storage, the building was put up for auction, where Stone Group Architects saw an opportunity to restore its former glory while transforming it into a modern office space. Working closely with historical boards, they preserved the building’s architectural charm while adapting it for contemporary use. The original fire engine space was repurposed into a large collaborative work area, while the east side now features offices and conference rooms. The second level houses an additional tenant with office and meeting spaces. With its rich history and thoughtful restoration, the building remains a significant landmark in Sioux Falls.
