Fruita Western Slope Vietnam Memorial Park

Fruita, Colorado

|

Dedicated in 1996, this multi-war memorial is located in Fruita’s Western Slope Vietnam Memorial Park in Colorado. It includes a 1942 WWII Howitzer, a curved bench dedicated to the Marine Corps 1965-1970 Black Jack’s Boys and large displays of the Colorado flag and Vietnam Service Ribbon.

A military helicopter, supported on a tall pedestal, hovers over a display that lists the names of casualties from the Western Slope of Vietnam. American Flags fly over the park with a base filled with Veterans names and ranks.  On display is a life-size bronze of parents welcoming a soldier home from war.

Inside this memorial is a section that was dedicated in 2003, titled “The Field of Dreams.” It includes a sketching of three soldiers in the jungle. Curved walls display names and ranks of Veterans who served in The Western Slope of Vietnam.
