SIOUX CENTER AREA VETERANS MEMORIAL

Located next to the public library in Sioux Center, Iowa, this 27-foot pillar depicting an eternal flame is sure to command the attention of all who visit the park. The phrase, “Lest We Forget,” is etched near the base of the stainless steel flames and supported by five granite pillars containing the emblems of the five branches of military service. The entire structure is surrounded by a hexagon of granite benches, the backs of which contain a timeline of events assembled by a local high school history class.

Photo collages of the nation’s military history dating back to WWI are beautifully depicted above the Veterans names on monuments and benches that radiate out from the central structure resulting in an impressive memorial truly worthy of the Veterans it honors.
