SPRINGFIELD VETERANS MEMORIAL

SPRINGFIELD, SD

|

Sitting high on the banks of the Missouri River, the Springfield Veterans Memorial at Terrace Park honors local Veterans with their names engraved on granite walls below a towering pillar displaying the seals of the military branches. The Springfield Veterans embody the adage ‘All gave some; some gave all’ and work to ensure every Veteran receives the respect and reverence they are due, no matter what their service looked like. Community members are currently working to gather stories and share them on their website, SpringfieldVeterans.com, in order to identify, respect and honor all Veterans in Springfield.

“You may have served in combat or in non-combat. You may have retired out or you may have served for a short time. You may have been a draftee or a volunteer. You may have served in the Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines or National Guard. But you served. You did your job honorably, and for that I am proud to call you brother.” -Author: Anonymous Veteran
